A Six-Day Celebration of Love: Amar & Gurman's Sikh Wedding Journey

Amar and Gurman's Sikh wedding was a six-day symphony of love, laughter, tradition, and heartfelt emotion. From a romantic Amsterdam couple shoot to the emotional Doli ceremony, we at Kat Films, were there to capture every precious moment.

Day 1: Amsterdam Romance - A Couple Shoot to Remember

Our journey began with a pre-wedding couple shoot in the heart of Amsterdam. Amar and Gurman were a dream to photograph. Their love was so evident, so natural, that we barely had to pose them. We simply captured their genuine connection, their tender glances, and the joy they shared. The canals, the bridges, the charming streets – Amsterdam provided a beautiful backdrop, but it was Amar and Gurman's love that truly shone through our lenses.

Maiya Magic - Tears of Joy and Laughter

Day two was a day of contrasts, beginning with the traditional Maiya ceremony.

For Gurman, the bride, it was a deeply emotional experience. The Maiya, signifying her transition into married life, was filled with bittersweet moments, tears of joy and love mixed with the poignant realization of leaving her family home.

For Amar, the groom, the Maiya was a more lighthearted affair. His friends didn't hold back, drenching him in haldi (turmeric) amidst much laughter and playful teasing. These contrasting emotions, both beautiful in their own way, made for some truly memorable photos and videos.

The Choora ceremony for Gurman, marking the bride's final moments before the wedding, was deeply emotional. As the red and white bangles, symbolizing her marital status, were placed on her wrists, a wave of emotion swept through the room. It was a bittersweet moment, a beautiful blend of tradition and heartfelt sentiment.

Day 3 : Jago - Dancing the Night Away

The evening brought the vibrant Mehndi and Jago ceremonies. The air was thick with the scent of henna and the rhythmic beat of the dhol. Gurman's family and friends put on spectacular dance performances, filling the night with energy and excitement.

Day 5: The Wedding at Sloterdijk Gurudwara - A Sacred Union

The fifth day was the culmination of the celebrations: the Sikh wedding ceremony at the beautiful Sloterdijk Gurudwara in Amsterdam. Gurman looked radiant in her traditional red bridal outfit. The Milni, the joyous meeting of the two families, was filled with laughter and warm embraces. The ceremony itself was a moving experience, from the emotional Palla ceremony to the sacred Anand Karaj, the exchange of vows, and the beautiful Gurbani that filled the Gurudwara with blessings.

After the ceremony, we whisked Amar and Gurman away to the iconic Zaanse Schans for a post-wedding shoot. The windmills provided a stunning backdrop, creating truly breathtaking images. The bridesmaids and groomsmen joined in for some fun and lighthearted shots, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

The Doli, Gurman's departure from her family home, was one of the most heart-touching Dolis we have ever captured. The raw emotion, the love between Gurman and her family, brought tears to everyone's eyes. It was a truly poignant moment, a beautiful ending to a day filled with joy, love, and heartfelt emotion.

Amar and Gurman's wedding was more than just an event; it was an experience. It was a celebration of love, family, and tradition, and we were honored to capture every precious moment. We wish Amar and Gurman a lifetime of happiness together.
